Customer Recycling Program

Since 2004, Tech Superpowers has been recycling customer equipment with East Coast Electronics, a firm now called Supreme Asset Management and Recovery. Twice a year, East Coast disposes of almost a 1/2 ton of computer equipment that has been left by or disposed of by Tech Superpowers customers, including dozens of old CRT monitors - which are worst for the environment because of their size and material composition.

All of this equipment, ranging from old computers to broken parts, is all recovered or taken apart as part of their "0% Landfill" program for computer and appliance disposal.

Many computer parts are made from materials that would be toxic to the environment if left in a landfill, including (but not limited to) mercury from laptop and flat panel lamps, and lead, phosphorous, and cadmium from traditional CRTs. While many cities accept computers (which are largely considered by muncipalities as non-toxic) for trash disposal, using services like East Coast Electronics ensures that the materials are recovered first and used for scrap, instead of ending up with other household trash in landfills.

As part of our Customer Recycling Program, we will pick up 5 or fewer computer items for our customers for a simple $30 fee plus applicable travel charges. These systems are collected for the bi-annual pickup and will be disposed of as part of East Coast's "0% Landfill" program.

For those that have a larger amount of equipment to dispose of, we recommend contacting Supreme Asset Management and Recovery directly.

This is, of course, just the beginning. Recent international standards for electronic waste disposal have been established as part of the Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations in the European Community. Within a few years, EC businesses will be required to account for the disposal of electronic devices. Enforcement and disposal is already being enforced in the UK (home of TSP's first international branch). It's only a matter of time before these regulations make it to America.

Our Customer Recycling Program is just part of our Green Efforts, which include in-house Recycling programs and our Zero Carbon Initiative.
